THE WIDE LAND OF THE PUSZTA (approx. 4.5 h)
What would Hungary be without the Puszta? Immerse yourself in the almost untouched hinterland and visit the Apajpuszta with its unique grasslands. Experience the flair of this area, which is part of the Kiskunzang National Park, from a horse-drawn carriage on a short tour. After a horse show by the Csikos, which is well worth seeing, taste typical Hungarian snacks.
WITH THE CITY EXPRESS TO THE CASTLE AND BY FOOT THROUGH THE HISTORIC CENTRE (approx. 2 h)
Taking you directly to the most beautiful view, the Bratislava City Express will deliver you to the Bratislavský Hrad (Bratislava Castle). From the 85-metre-high plateau, you can see far over the Danube. The city owes its name to Duke Wratislaw, who built the complex in the middle of the 17th century. Maria Theresia decided to reconstruct the castle a century later as you'll see on your visit today. After the castle, you will explore the historical centre with its Renaissance houses and baroque palaces by foot.
EXCURSION TO DÜRNSTEIN AND MELK ABBEY (approx. 4.5 h)
Dürnstein's main sight is the church with its blue and white baroque spire. Artful reliefs show the suffering of Christ and four obelisks with the images of the apostles’ tower into the sky. The Collegiate Church was built in the 15th century and was originally an Augustinian monastery, before it was rebuilt in baroque style. The fortress, which towers over the city, was built in the middle of the 12th century and became the prison of King Richard I (Richard the Lionheart) about fifty years later. The fortress was widely destroyed in the 17th century and today, only the fascinating and romantic ruins remain. You will then continue along the Danube to one of Europe’s most magnificent baroque buildings and the highlight of this excursion: the Benedictine Abbey Melk. Situated on a 60-metre-tall ridge, it offers a fantastic view over the Danube and the dreamlike landscape of the Wachau.
GROTTO HINTERBRÜHL AND LIECHTENSTEIN CASTLE (approx. 5 h)
We take you on a discovery trip to the unique underground world of the lake cave and to the princely ancestral castle of Lichtenstein. The lake grotto has been designated a natural monument and is home to Europe's largest underground lake. On a boat tour across the lake, you will learn all about the extraordinary mining history and the mysterious labyrinth of galleries. Afterwards, continue to Lichtenstein Castle, where 900 years of castle history await you. Take a journey through time into the world of castles and immerse yourself in the history of the House of Lichtenstein.
