Excursions and Sightseeing in Salamanca
Plaza Mayor
The square is one of the most beautiful in the whole country, and there is always something going on. On the north side you will find the Salamanca Town Hall, which, like the square itself, was built in Baroque style. The impressive building consists of five granite arches and a flattened bell tower.
Cathedrals of Salamanca
Salamanca has both an Old and a New Cathedral. The Old Cathedral dates back to the 12th - 13th century. Many religious works of art can be admired here. Another special feature is the Torre del Gallo, the tower of the Old Cathedral. The New Cathedral was completed in 1733 after over two hundred years of construction. Today it is one of the tallest buildings in the city. Special features of the New Cathedral include the choir stalls and the carved figure of the Virgen de la Asunción.
Casa de la Conchas
This building was built in the Gothic Style and represents the Isabelline Art Style. The façade of the building has a special feature: it is decorated with over 300 shells, making it particularly worth seeing. The building currently houses one of the city's libraries.
