Zaanse Schans is a listed open-air museum where you can stroll through Dutch life in the 17th and 18th centuries. Whether guided or on your own, you will walk past authentic houses, a historic shipyard, a tin factory, a cheese and dairy farm, an ancient grocery shop and, above all, windmills. Afterwards, the tour continues across the polder landscape to a cheese dairy and to Edam. In the cheese dairy you will be told everything about the production of cheese and of course you will be allowed to taste a piece. In Edam, the cheese is world-famous, but the little village also has a lot to offer. During a short walk you can explore the village, which is also criss-crossed by small canals, and see the cheese market, among other things. However, hardly any cheese is sold here today. Nevertheless, the tradition is regularly revived, and the cheese is carried by cheese carriers to the various traders as in the old days.

A myriad of tulips, crocuses, daffodils and other bulb flowers provide a sea of colour at Keukenhof. No less than 7 million flowers are planted here every year for 30 shows. The walkways through the 32-hectare park lead to seven inspirational gardens. And if the weather doesn't play ball, you can always marvel at the splendour of the various pavilions. Everywhere you will discover the motto 'A World of Colours'. Bright colours, pastels, from light to dark. Discover a colourful sea of flowers.

Take a deep breath! In Frisian Harlingen the sea air is omnipresent. The harbour stretches all the way into the downtown area, where you can be witness to architecture from different epochs. Follow our guide through the beautiful old houses with stepped gables, along the canals and the elegant brick town hall and walk to the outstanding Reformed Church from the 18th century, located high above the harbour.

Explore the harbour town of Hoorn with a private English-speaking guide. Experience history in the footsteps of Willem Schouten, who sailed around the southern tip of America in 1616 and gave it the name of his hometown. The IJsselmeer is one of the most popular places in the Netherlands for sailing. Since the water is just five metres deep here, people sail in typical flat-bottomed boats. On board the Mother Goose you’ll be able to take control of the ropes and the helm yourself. After around four hours the Mother Goose will moor close to your A-ROSA ship.

During this excursion, you will learn interesting facts about the regional flower growers. After a stroll through Hoorn, take a relaxed bus ride to Kwekerij Siem Munster. Kwekerij Siem Munster specializes in growing flowers and produces around 8 million tulips a year on an area of 25 hectares. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of flower cultivation during a tour and learn all about the history, cultivation and care. Be surprised by the variety of flower bulbs!

Hoorn is a dream destination for a cycle tour, and not just because of its marvellous location on the Markermeer. This advantage is complemented by historic monuments, imposing churches, many pretty houses from the 17th and 18th centuries and a historic cheese weigh house.
