Highlights of the Advent Cruise

A special winter fairytale on the Danube!

From Forchheim to Regensburg and Kelheim to Forchheim.

An Advent cruise along the Danube and Main offers a magical opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere in historic cities. We start in Forchheim, where the Christmas market bathes the old town in a magical light. Stroll between the festively decorated stalls and enjoy mulled wine and, of course, gingerbread. Continue to Regensburg, where the romantic Christmas market at Thurn & Taxis Castle enchants visitors to the medieval alleyways and the illuminated old town. On the way to Kelheim, you can enjoy the picturesque landscape along the Danube. Once in Kelheim, we immerse ourselves in the pre-Christmas atmosphere of the Christmas market and enjoy local specialities. And you can use the way back to Forchheim to simply reflect on the great experiences of the cruise and get in the mood for the upcoming festive season.

Forchheim

Welcome to the gateway to the Franconian Switzerland! The charming town of Forchheim invites you to explore its winding streets in the run-up to Christmas. Characterised by half-timbered buildings and traditional taverns, the streets are adorned with festive decorations. The city has a long history stretching back 1,200 years, shaped by kings and an impressive fortress. As a traditional beer town with the world's highest density of beer cellars, three of the original 18 breweries still exist today. The 'Walk of Beer', which opened in 2018, takes visitors from the city centre to the Kellerwald, where beer was once stored and matured in 23 cellars. Today, this area is one of the world's largest beer gardens. From 27 November to 24 December 2026, the atmospheric Christmas market will take place around the Kaiserpfalz, bathing the old town in a magical winter atmosphere with lights, scents, and festive cheer.

Regensburg

In Regensburg, you can explore the fascinating sights of this medieval city, starting with the majestic Stone Bridge, which crosses the Danube and is an impressive example of medieval engineering. Stroll through the narrow streets of the Old Town and marvel at the atmospheric Christmas market on Neupfarrplatz square at Christmas time, where the scent of mulled wine and roasted almonds fills the air. The imposing Regensburg Cathedral and the historic town hall with its magnificent carillon also shine in a particularly festive light!

Kelheim

Kelheim is a town with a wealth of sights and an idyllic ambience! Here you can explore a thrillingly beautiful environment, starting with the impressive Danube Gorge, where the mighty rocks of the Weltenburger Engel rise above the river and provide a spectacular backdrop. Visit the Kelheim Liberation Hall, a monumental building on the Michelsberg, which commemorates the wars of liberation against Napoleon and offers a breathtaking view over the town and the Danube valley.
